This survey for the UK’s leading rail freight operator involved 100 in-depth telephone interviews with UK freight transport companies, with the objective of evaluating the business potential for switching road freight to rail and overall perceptions of rail freight. The survey was conducted with both existing customers and prospects in the road haulage sector. Detailed information was captured regarding current routes used, volumes carried, transit time/value-added service requirements, awareness of the client’s services, perceptions of rail as a valid transport mode and likelihood of using rail in the future.

From the information gathered Andrew Lester & Associates produced an executive summary report for the client’s board directors, as well as a sales lead database for the accounts team to follow up.
