Survey to Assess the Business Impact of EU Enlargement on the Cross-border Parcels Market

Andrew Lester & Associates conducted 1,200 telephone interviews with cross-border parcels shippers in three existing EU member states and three prospective member countries. The objective was to evaluate the impact of EU enlargement on future parcels traffic within the enlarged European Union market. In addition to assessing likely volume growth, the study addressed shipper levels of knowledge, expectations from parcels carriers and preparedness to exploit border changes.

The client, one of the world’s leading integrators, needed a better understanding of changes in user selection criteria for parcels carriers after enlargement, shifts in lane usage between old and new member countries and likelihood of changing carriers in order to satisfy future requirements.
