Company History

Andrew Lester & Associates was established as an international marketing research and consultancy company in 1986. A far cry from our small beginnings the company now operates a 50 seat in-house, international CATI call centre and has dedicated market research analysts providing experienced and cost effective marketing research services to our clients.

 

Below is a brief history of the company. The timeline starts with the present day and works back to when the company was established in 1986.

2007
Restructuring organisation and operations and selects key outsourcing partners in the UK and abroad. This has increased our geographical reach and field capacity, improved our analytical and reporting capability, reduced lead times and cut cost. For our customers this development means a better, quicker and more streamlined management of their projects.
2006
On the 1st of January Andrew Lester & Associates which has traded since 1986 as a partnerhip became a Limited liability company registered in England, trading as Andrew Lester & Associates Limited, registration number 5625975. The cahnge has been made purely for administrtaive reason and to help in the company's continued growth.

Helen Daniels leaves the company after more than 10 years to pursue new challenges in marketing research with TRADA.
2005
David Lindsay joins the company as Projects Director, taking over from Karen Boyce who leaves the company after almost 10 years to pursue personal interests.
The in-house global CATI call centre increased to 50 seat capacity as a response to increased demand.
2004
Andrew Lester & Associates forms a strategic partnership agreement with The Strategia Group (www.strategiagroup.net), a leading consultancy group providing its services to companies in the postal, freight, IT, telecoms, banking and insurance sectors.
2003
Carol Chesters, Junior Partner, retires after 18 years with the company.
 
Kjetill Howard joins the company as Partner and Marketing Director.
2002
A contract with a leading dental healthcare company sees the introduction of a new division within Andrew Lester & Associates.
 
A major contract with a global express operator builds on the expertise acquired after running the international market monitoring programme on behalf of IPC for 10 years.
2000
In-house global CATI call centre increased to 40 seat capacity.
 
Having principally dealt with marketing research for the mail and logistics market, Andrew Lester & Associates adds new sectors to its research activity with two new contracts from the industrial materials market.
 
Andrew Lester & Associates signs a strategic partnership agreement with Peter Farmer Associates, (www.cavendishhouse.com), a company specialising in Mergers and Acquisitions in the freight and logistics arena.
 
The ISO 9001 accreditation is supplemented by the BS 7911 - the British standard for managing research projects. This covers every stage and every aspect of conducting a market research project.
1998
Fully integrated CATI is brought in with the introduction of the state-of-the-art Ronin telephone interviewing system.
1996
The market intelligence project is supported by 19 IPC members.
 
Andrew Lester & Associates wins the contract from the EPG group in Brussels to conduct a mystery shopping project involving collection of price and service information from more than 100 parcels carriers in 16 European countries.
 
Helen Daniels joins the company to manage the development of a domestic version of the Market Intelligence System.
1995
Andrew Lester & Associates achieves the ISO 9001 quality accreditation.
 
Karen Boyce joins the company as Project Manager.
1994
The market intelligence project is supported and funded by 14 IPC members.
 
Andrew Lester & Associates wins the contract from IPC to continuously provide news and competitor intelligence. A new 'Market Intelligence' department is established.
 
Due to expansion Andrew Lester & Associates relocates to Thames Park, Wallingford. In-house global call centre with 25 CATI stations established.
1993
The IPC board and shareholders decide that the IPC Market Intelligence System will become a self-funded project. At the same time it is decided that the system shall not only continuously feed supporting members with data on the international outbound express courier market, but also on the outbound letters and parcels markets.
 
The software is changed to run on a Microsoft Windows 3.1 platform.
 
Andrew Lester joins in a sales promotion tour to visit IPC's members throughout the world. By the end of 1993 seven IPC members become funding members of the market intelligence project.
1992
Andrew Lester & Associates moves its premises to the Coach House in Wallingford. In-house call centre established with 10 telephone research stations.                                       
 
Bernadette Kozlowska joins the company as Field Manager.
 
First version of the IPC Market Intelligence System launched. The system is fed with test data on the outbound express courier market collected by the newly established international call centre operating on a 24/5 basis.
1991
Prototype of the revolutionary market analysis software, the IPC Market Intelligence System, is presented to IPC . The software undergoes further refinement and the data collection strategy is improved.
1990
Andrew Lester & Associates win a £240,000 contract to develop a software and data collection package to collect key market intelligence data on behalf of the International Post Corporation.
 
The company is invited to draw up a concept for the development of a global Market Intelligence System on behalf of Brussels-based International Post Corporation (IPC), an association of 21 postal operators in Europe, North America and Asia.
1989
The company completes more than 50 projects in two years under the UK Government sponsored Marketing Help Scheme.
1988
Andrew Lester & Associates becomes one of 200 consultants on the Chartered Institute of Marketing's register.
1987
The company wins a major contract with CEPT, the European Restricted Union under the UPU (Universal Postal Union)
1986
Andrew Lester establishes the company. Carol Chesters joins as junior partner and associate.
